Sign Up Now for Explore Bowhunting Class

Bowhunting is a sport more and more archers are picking up these days. Archery deer seasons are held during the beautiful fall months, when the weather is pleasant for spending time outdoors. And they’re held before gun seasons, when hunting pressure hits its peak.

But there’s a lot you should know about bowhunting before you head into the field carrying archery tackle and a hunting license.

Lancaster Archery Academy is hosting an Explore Bowhunting course Aug. 12-14, just in time for the fall hunting season.

Designed by the Archery Trade Association, the course helps students develop the skills needed to head into the woods to hunt with archery gear.

You’ll learn about the anatomy of a white-tailed deer, shot placement, judging distance, using game calls, scent control, field dressing game and more.

The instruction is geared toward beginner and intermediate archers of all ages. You can use your own equipment or equipment provided by Lancaster Archery Academy.

Led by certified instructors, the class runs from 9 a.m.- 1p.m. each day at the Lancaster Archery Supply campus at 2195-A Old Philadelphia Pike, Lancaster, PA. Cost is $125 per person.

All students will receive a course bag, which includes a student handbook and other instructional items to be used during the course.

You’ll also receive a gift certificate for a 30-minute session of TechnoHUNT at the conclusion of the course. TechnoHUNT is a hunting simulation, in which archers shoot at video projections of game animals for score. Lancaster Archery Supply has its own TechnoHUNT range inside its Pro Shop.

Completion of this course provides the student with a better understanding of what it takes to be a bowhunter. It is not a state hunter education course.

Participants must sign a waiver at the beginning of the class. You must be 18 years or older to sign the waiver, or have a parent or guardian sign for you.
