Workshop By Legendary Archer Hardy Ward Planned for Lancaster Archery Academy

Former world-champion archer and longtime, elite coach Hardy Ward is bringing his Shoot Straight Workshop back to Lancaster Archery Academy in Lancaster, Pa., Oct. 17-18.

Ward will give a hands-on workshop in Olympic Recurve form to experienced archers and coaches, which covers advanced techniques and training taught across the world, as Ward has done in Taiwan, China, Korea and throughout Asia.


The interactive event will include instruction on fluid motion, drawing planes, range of motion and setting a clicker, plus training drills with and without a bow and much, much more.

Ward in 1966 became the youngest man ever to win a national title at the age of 16. He won the national title again in 1968 before claiming first place at the 1969 World Archery Championships. For the past 30 years, Ward has been living and coaching elite archers in Taiwan. He recently has been working with U.S. Olympic Shadow Team member, and LAS TechXPert, Dan Schuller.

The cost to attend the Lancaster workshop is $250. Instruction will run from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. on Oct. 17, and from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. on Oct. 18. Course materials, training aids, continental breakfast, refreshments and lunch will be provided. Bring your own equipment and notebook.

There will be an optional workshop introduction Friday from 6-8 p.m. at no additional cost to attendees. Here, you can meet Ward and learn what he’s got planned for the weekend workshop.

Private one-on-one training sessions with Ward are available prior to the workshop at an additional cost of $75 per hour. Ward will be available for those sessions from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. on both Oct. 14 and 15, and from noon-4 p.m. on Oct. 16.
